Career / Education Program

The Friends of SoZo Kids Career/Education Award Program is dedicated to providing qualifying Kids who live in the Ocala National Forest with the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education to build a career.  Awards include providing items critical to their success such as computers or tools to launch a career in construction, plumbing or mechanics careers.

In its inaugural year Friends of SoZo Kids provided 3 Kids living in the Ocala a Career/Education Award.  Since then Friends of SoZo Kids has awarded more Career-Education Awards to 5 more kids..

Congratulations to:

1. Darian Biggs graduated from Lake Weir High School and will be attending the College of Central Florida in the fall.  Friends of SoZo Kids awarded $1,500 to purchase  a new laptop, carry pack, and software programs to help her with her studies.
2. Charles (C.J.) Goodman, a resident of the Ocala National Forest who has just moved back to the Forest to live with his family, graduated from Susitna Valley High School in Alaska.  Friends of SoZo Kids awarded $1,500 to purchase a new laptop, carry pack, and software programs to help C.J. with his studies.
3. Nathaniel (Nate) Evans graduated from Lake Weir High School and is pursuing a career in construction. His award of $550 funded the purchase of tools necessary for him to pursue his career.
