Emergency Needs

Friends of SoZo Kids provides Grant Awards to The Help Agency for emergency needs as they arise. All grants awarded benefit SoZo Kids on-site programming and operational needs.

2022 Grants

$23,500 – Facilities improvements including basketball court at Sandy Acres After-School Program Location
$4,500 – After-School Program Crafts & Teaching Materials
$3,000 – Little League Scholarships & Equipment
$12,000 – SoZo Kids Sleepaway Camp Scholarships
$7,000 – Turkeys and Hams for holiday meals
$13,050 – Operational expenses

2021 Grants

$17,400 – Improve facilities at Forest Lakes Park Community Center and Sandy Acres to foster safety for Kids and volunteers for After-School and Summer Programs
$14,700 - Drill a new Community-Standards Well to provide potable drinking water
$25,000 - Purchase a used Box Truck
$9,600 - Camp SoZo food and personal care needs for nearly 200 SoZo Kids
$2,900 – Pay for new decking and barrel floats for lake at Camp SoZo
$4,750 – Cover seasonal operating expenses for Back-to-School Bash and Angel Tree Programs
$5,000 - Purchase turkeys for Thanksgiving & hams for Christmas for SoZo Kids families
$10,000 - Provide a year-end gift for Christmas gifts and housing for SoZo Kids

2020 Grants

$4,500 - Purchase a "new" used van to help transport SoZo Kids
$5,725 - Remove a meth house next to the Forest Lakes Park Community Center, and clear the land to enlarge the playground area and improve safety for the children
$2,094 - Purchase and install fencing around the entire Forest Lakes Park Community Center
$3,971 - Replace a burst water tank at Camp SoZo
$1,500 - Purchase Thanksgiving meals
$3,000 - Purchase Christmas hams
